Update: Our first Pickleball league started April 18, 2022. In 15 months, we've held five Spring/Summer sessions and four Indoor sessions. 672 different players have participated so far. Below are some breakdowns:
Our league uses a proprietary algorithm that factors in results to create optimal "pairings" numbers based on a 4,000 point scale. Our more general "SOS" or Strength of Schedule number could be considered a playing level - that uses ratings 1 to 10. A loose conversion to the broadly used self-rating system would be 1 & 2 = below 3.0, 3 & 4 = 3.0, 5 & 6 = 3.5, 7 & 8 = 4.0, 9 = 4.5, 10 = 5.0. Here is a breakdown by playing level:
Session #2: We added 40 spots yesterday and reopened registration. 263 of 280 spots are now filled. Registration will remain open until we reach 280. However, players must register by Saturday to be included in the first week of Session #2 play.
We've added more courts at ACES. 280 is now capacity for Pickleball (South) Session #2. 249 spots are filled and registration has been reopened.
213 of 232 spots are filled for our Pickleball Spring/Summer Session #2 "South" league. Play is on Monday nights at ACES Pickleball + Kitchen, Cincinnati Country Club, Losantiville Country Club and LTC at Lunken. This league consists of 12 league nights starting July 17. The deadline to register is July 14. It will close if capacity is reached before the deadline.
The region's best summer platform tennis tournament will be held July 8 at Elysium Tennis in Columbus. Contact tournament director Brian Heil with questions. The event typically has 16+ teams and guarantees players at least three matches. Most years there are a few ranked teams and a dozen or so teams similar to our D-1 team level or 1,300+ level in our ratings system. Recommended for competitive players currently playing summer PT.
243 of 332 spots are filled for Pickleball Summer Session #2. Players have until July 7 to register. There will again be two leagues. The South league will play on Mondays at ACES Pickleball + Kitchen, LTC at Lunken, Cincinnati Country Club & Losantiville Country Club. The North league is on Wednesdays at Glendale Lyceum.
Registration is open for Spring/Summer Platform Tennis League Session #2. The deadline to register is July 7. Players registered (34). Play lasts 12 weeks and ends September 27.
Jaime Kaufman and Mark Haines defeated Nina Levy and Edwin Dario in the finals of our first league Pickleball A/B Tournament. 32 players played group round robins with 8 teams qualifying for elimination play. Winners, finalists and semifinalists won paddles from Xenon and Head. A special thanks to ACES Pickleball + Kitchen for hosting the event and to Ronnie Grandison Sports Academy for offering their courts as well. Click: A/B Pickleball Tournament (Results) for more.
