Purpose:  To increase platform tennis participation via formation of a league dedicated to competition and camaraderie.

Time & Day: League play will be on Thursdays. Start times are 5:30, 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 & 8:30.  Anticipate playing for up to 2 hours.

Locations: Glendale Lyceum & Maketewah CC.

Season Duration: The league will start October 1. 22 weeks will be played, lasting until March 18, 2021. We will not play November 26, December 24 or 31.

Two sessions: The Fall/Winter season will be split into two "sessions." The first will run from October 1 through December 17. The second will run from January 7 through March 18.

Participation: This league is open to male and female league players of all levels and new players with tennis experience.

Cost: $285 to register for full season in advance. $165 for just Session #1 or just Session #2.

Refund Policy:  Refunds can be granted up until the first night of league play. No refunds after league play has started. If a player fails to play more than 2x in a session (due to injury or unanticipated regular conflict), a credit may be awarded for a future league. This credit has no cash redemption value.

Obligation of Participants: All participants are required to adhere to the following:

1)   Platform Tennis League “Procedures & Rules.”
2)   Platform Tennis League etiquette standards.
3)   All rules of host clubs. (Attached)

Participants found to be in violation of these items may be expelled from the Platform Tennis League.

Special Day/Time Requests: If you need to play at a specific time, please indicate this weekly.

Do not plan to leave early – if you cannot stay for the entire session, simply opt out for that week.

General Format: Players are assigned to courts with either 4 or 5 participants. A round-robin style format is played on that court.

1) Four-to-a-court
a. Play regular scoring.
b. Each player plays one “official” set with each other player on the court as his partner.
c. Play additional sets until 1.5 hours is up. These do not count for the standings.

2) Five-to-a-court
a. Play no-ad sets. Tiebreaker at 5-5.
b. A rotation schedule will be given to you at the beginning of the night. Use this to determine partners.
c. Each player will sit out one rotation.
d. Each player will play 4 “official” sets.

3) Three-to-a-court
a. Pro plays on the court with 2 regulars.
b. Play three sets.
c. Each player plays one set on a side by themselves.
d. The singles player can hit the ball anywhere.
e. The doubles team must play the entire point to the cross-court half the point started from.
f. Record sets won & lost.

Year-End Awards: Players must play at least 24 sets (8 sessions) to qualify for year-end awards. The overall league winner and the top female finisher receive free entry into all Platform Tennis League sessions for the next 12 months. This includes the 2021 Summer League and the 2021-22 Fall/Winter League (no extensions).

Late Cancellation: Legitimate reasons for cancelling after Wednesday at Noon, include: Emergency work travel, illness, injury, family emergency, unforeseeable events like car trouble, etc.

Tardiness: Be on time. Showing up about 10 minutes early is proper. If someone is more than 20 minutes late, and an even number (4 per court) has already been achieved – it is not necessary to include the tardy participant.

Inclement Weather / League Night Cancellation: When bad weather is a probability – still plan your day to show up no matter what. If you do not receive an email indicating league has been cancelled for the evening, then just show up. Cancellation emails will go out 45+ minutes prior to start times. NO PHONE CALLS. We will not cancel on the “threat” of bad weather. If bad weather develops – go have a beer. Participants are expected to play in moderate rain – but not in dangerous conditions (puddles, icy courts, lightning).

Make-Up Dates: No make-up days for cancelled league nights.

When all sets are not completed: If all scheduled sets were not completed, then only the completed sets count. Rain, court malfunction, injury, etc. If injury occurs during a set – the team without injury wins that set.

When time restricts the conclusion of all scheduled sets: If the final set is currently being played, and one team is up by 2 games – they win. Otherwise, play a regular tiebreaker, 5-minutes prior to ending time.

Contact Information Requirement: All participants must provide the league administrator with an active email and mobile phone. The email & mobile phone information may be available to others in the league.

Payment Deadline: Prepayment required. All fees are due by September 21, 2020.
