Success Outside of the League
The following are some notable local, regional and national accomplishments by league players during the 2014-15 season:
Rob Bakker – continued to build upon his 2013-14 success with partner Flip Goodspeed. The pair finished the season ranked #5 nationally after reaching the semifinals of three of the season's biggest tournaments - The Chicago Charities, The Midwesterns and the APTA Nationals. Bakker also won the Indianapolis National Ranking Tournament for the second straight year - this time with Scott Kahler. He partnered with Luke White to win the Hertzel Cup (City Open Championships) & played President's Cup for Region IV.
Heather Prop – and partner Ania Kazekevich finished the year ranked #9 nationally. Season highlights included winning The Midwesterns (Prop's 7th title) and nearly upsetting the #1 seeds and eventual champs in the quarterfinals of the APTA Nationals. Prop also became the first woman to compete in the Hertzel Cup with husband Vince Prop.
Doug Jones & Thaddeus Reed – finished the year ranked #28 nationally and each played Presidents Cup for Region IV. Reed also won the Columbus Open with Denny English. Jones partnered with Michael Todd to win the Indianapolis Open 90s.
Amy Lutz & Mary Zimmerman - won the women's GCPTA city championship. Lutz finished the season ranked #78 nationally with Bizzy Driscoll.
Seth Dimling & Ryan Floth – were ranked #81 nationally.
Kyle Bates & Scott Triplett - were ranked #87 nationally.
Eric Toth & Jeff Roman – were finalists in the Hertzel Cup.
