Week #13: Necessary Closes Gap

Dave Necessary moved up with a first and second place finish on two upper courts this week. His season average improved to 19.07 in 14 sessions. This puts him in 4th place overall and second among likely qualifiers (minimum of 6 sessions to qualify for title). The court winners this week were: Dave Compaan, Mike McGrath, Kelley Fitzpatrick, George Peck and Tony Teufel.

Hinkle Clinches Ironman

Congratulations to PT leaguers Tyler Fraser, Wil Lofgren and Marie Matrka for winning doubles titles at this year's Cincinnati Met Tennis Tournament.

Fraser & Lofgren Win Men's

Tyler Fraser and Wil Lofgren teamed up to win the men's doubles title. More at Cincinnati Met Men's doubles.

Matrka Wins Women's

Marie Matrka teamed up with Kaitlyn Zinn to win the women's doubles title. More at 2018 Cincinnati Met Women's doubles.

Fraser & Matrka Win Mixed

Tyler Fraser and Marie Matrka won the Met Mixed Doubles title. They defeated Wyatt Lippert and Kelli Niehaus in the final.

Barton Into Tennis Hall of Fame

PT Leaguer Kathy Barton will be inducted into the Cincinnati Tennis Hall of Fame this year. This is a great honor for Kathy and we would like to see as many people attend the ceremony on Sunday, August 12th at the Western Southern Open, as possible. Below is a brief bio on Kathy and information on how to attend the event:

UNC All-American

As a junior player, Kathy was the top ranked Cincinnati female tennis player and she held high national rankings. Barton attended the University of North Carolina and was the team's #1 player. While at UNC, she won ACC titles in singles, doubles, and a team championship. She was named an All-American in 1982, making her North Carolina’s first All-American women’s tennis player. In 1983, she won the Cincinnati Metropolitan Tennis Championship and was a finalist in 1980 and 1981.

HOF Induction Ceremony

The event will take place on the Opening Night of the Main Draw of the 2018 Western & Southern Open at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason. Proceeds benefit local junior tennis programs:.

4:00 - Reception
4:30 - Dinner & Cermony
7:00 - Main Draw Matches Begin

Ceremony/Dinner & Match tickets @ $80/each set. Ceremony/Dinner Only tickets @ $70/each (must have your own match tickets). Reserve tables for 10 @ $700/table ($800 with match tickets)

Match ticket required for entry to tournament grounds. Match typically sells out; order quickly to ensure your seat.
