17 of 36 spots are filled for our second indoor pickleball session. This smaller group will cater to lower level players only - beginner to under 3.5. Play will be on Tuesday nights at Elite Athletics Sports Complex (Batavia/Eastgate). An additional "all levels" indoor session is being planned for March & April. This will serve as a third session for the indoor league.

Ronnie Grandison Sports Academy will host the Velocity Pickleball Open tournament February 24 to 26. The event will be played on 16 indoor courts. Events will include men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles. 266 players are currently registered.
The 2023 Hertzel Cup will be held Saturday, March 4 this year. This is the Cincinnati City Open Platform Tennis Championship. It is always the best single day of local platform tennis. This event is highly recommended to all Platform Tennis League players above 1,100 in pairings points. Contact: Hertzel Cup to register.
Fraser Wins MensTyler Fraser (Cincinnati) partnered with Adam Morgan (Chicago) to win this year's Midwesterns APTA Tour event. The duo defeated Pittsburgh's Felip Rams and Mike Wagner 6-4, 6-3 in the final. Fraser/Morgan were the top seeds and did not drop a set in their four matches. Fraser is a former Platform Tennis League champ (2017-18 Fall Winter). Fraser/Mott Win 90sTyler Fraser also won the Midwesterns 90s event partnering with Dan Mott. The 90s event requires that the two partners ages add up to 90 or more. They defeated Hall-of-Famer Flip Goodspeed (Grand Rapids) and Cullen Malloy (Grand Rapids) in the final. Mott is a Cincinnati City champ (Hertzel Cup) and has played 173 Platform Tennis League sets. Halbauer/Jackson Reach FinalsPT Leaguers Ellie Halbauer and Jill Jackson reached the final of the Midwesterns Women's Open event. The duo survived a couple of tough three-setters before falling to top seeds Alison Morgan (Chicago) and Charlotte Sikora (Philadelphia) 6-3, 6-0 in the final. Halbauer is a former pro on the WTA tour and reached a top ranking of 260. Jackson (Buckley) played college tennis for top 10 NCAA teams at Kentucky. Jackson is a two-time Platform Tennis League Champion. She won the 2021 & 2022 Spring/Summer Leagues. Halbauer is the leader in the current 2022-23 Fall/Winter league. West Reaches SemifinalsEric West, the reigning Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter Platform Tennis League champion, partnered with Thomas Christian (Philadelphia) and reached the semifinals of the Midwesterns Mens Open division. Close Call for Fraser/MatrkaPT Leaguers Olivia Fraser & Marie Matrka lost a tight 6-7, 7-5, 6-2 round of 16 match to eventual finalists Halbauer/Jackson. The pair entered the tournament as the #2 seed. They dominated their backdraw to finish 9th place. Matrka is a 3x Platform Tennis League Champion, winning the 2018-19, 2020-21 & 2021-22 Fall/Winter leagues. Fraser (Capannari) was the 2018 Spring/Summer Platform Tennis League champ. Lofgren Reaches QFWil Lofgren, a 2x Platform Tennis League winner (2017 & 2018 Spring/Summer), partnered with Dan Hansen (Mystic, CT) and reached the quarterfinals of the Mens Open. No Luck in 110sA total of fifteen PT Leaguers took their shot at the 110s division. Combined ages need to add up to 110 or more for this event. None could stop the Columbus team of James Davidson and Pete Mudre. Fabian Schmahl and Tim Schraffenberger came closest.
Cincinnati's JJ Wolf has reached the round of 16 at this year's Australian Open tennis tournament. The Australian Open is one of the sport's "grand slam" events along with the US Open, Wimbledon and French Open. Next up for Wolf is American Ben Shelton. The match is scheduled for 10pm tonight (Sunday). JJ's father, Jeff Wolf has a long history with local tennis and platform tennis. Jeff has won over 25 Cincinnati Met tennis events and dabbled in platform tennis while the pro at Losantiville CC. Jeff won a city platform tennis title with Curt Josselyn in 2000 (City Open Winners/Hertzel Cup).
Tuesdays | Starts February 14 The second session of our 2022-23 Indoor Pickleball League will be played on Tuesday evenings at Elite Athletics Sports Complex - a new 64,000 sq. ft. facility located just past Eastgate in Batavia. We are currently working on a third indoor session as well. This would be an all levels league at Ronnie Grandison Sports Academy (Blue Ash). The start would be in March. 111 players participated on 24 courts in this week's play. Players going undefeated on courts this week were Kelly O'Neal, Mark Peters, Sakthivel Chidambaram, Barb Ritenbaugh, Carolyn McGowan, Hope Evans, Amy George and Jane Lee.
