Platform Tennis League is excited to announce that Xenon Paddle will be a sponsor of our 2021-22 leagues. We will use the Xenon ball for the Fall/Winter League. I am a fan of the brighter color and extended durability. For this year's ball, Xenon has softened the core for better playability in cold temperatures. In only their third year, Xenon has already earned a reputation for having some of the best equipment in the game. Registration for the 2021-2022 Fall/Winter League is now open. We will again have options to sign up for just Session #1 or Session #2 as well as a discounted rate for the full season. Plans are to play at Glendale Lyceum and Maketewah Country Club. We have room for 85 players with a registration deadline of September 17. If we reach 85 players by September 17, we will look to add courts & increase capacity. Otherwise, 85 will be the hard cut off.
Summer Session #2 kicked off with Henry Bunis, a former world top 100 world tennis player, making his Platform Tennis League debut. Bunis was a 1971 Ohio state high school champion and a 2x NCAA All-American at Columbia. Bunis, new to platform tennis, went 1-2 on a court with Doug Jones, Harrison Rogers and Wes Goebel. Also playing for the first time this summer were Kevin Hackett and Konnor Montchai. Register by Tuesday. Play Starts Thursday. The 8-week Preseason League (Summer #2) will run from August 12 to September 30. All levels welcome to play. Having played Spring or Summer #1 is not a requirement.
Platform Tennis Leaguers Wil Lofgren and Eric West teamed up to win this year's Cincinnati Met Men's Open Doubles Tournament. West made it to the finals of the singles event and Lofgren to the semifinals. 2021 Hertzel Cup champion Chris Angulo won the Met singles tournament.
Todd Wise ended Summer Session #1 on a high, going 7-1 on two courts. Wise improved to 48-37 for the Spring/Summer League and has a 12.56 standings points average.
