Platform Tennis League Recap - Week 5

Flight One: Bakker, Reed Debut ... Fovel Surprises w/ 4-0 Night

Nationally ranked players Rob Bakker and Thaddeus Reed made their Platform Tennis League season debuts. Each went undefeated on courts at Glendale Lyceum. Bakker, currently ranked 9th nationally with Flip Goodspeed, won four on an otherwise evenly paired 5-man court. Reed, once ranked as high as #12 nationally with Todd Ward and currently #33 with Doug Jones, survived one tiebreaker to go 3-0 on his court. John Fovel played up in Flight One and went 4-0 on his court at Losantiville Country Club. Evan Webeler's 5-3 night included a 4-0 record in his 

6:00 session. Doug Jones remained unbeaten for the season and is now 14-0. Reed and Bakker have joined him at the top of the standings. Click for this week's full results.

Flight Two: Spray Moves Up w/ 3-1 Night, Petty Welcomed

Steve Spray successfully moved up to Flight Two with a 3-1 record on a 5-man court at Losantiville. Keith Petty, a 5.0 tennis player from Northern Kentucky, played his first official sets in the league. Keith participated in an introductory session last week and was competitive in his Flight Two sets this week. Click for full Flight Two results.

Flight Three: Workum Sweeps His Way Back Into Contention

The surprise of the night came on a Flight Three court at Losantiville. Lee Workum, who started the season 2-11, took all four of his sets on a 5-man court featuring two Flight Two players. Click for full Flight Three results.
