![]() Platform Tennis Summer League play began Wednesday (April 29) with 6 courts of play at Glendale Lyceum. Play continued on Thursday night with three more. Wednesday: Randy Underwood made his Platform Tennis League debut and finished first on his court. He and Erik Simonson both won upper level courts (click for an explanation of the summer league scoring system), gaining 20 points each for their efforts. Other court winners were Bret Bruder and Ryan English. Bob Kooris and Mark Pohlman tied for first on their court and a sixth court was used to introduce newcomer Bruce Frasure to the game. Steve Gates, Jamie Priest, Bruce Frasure and Randy Underwood all played in the Platform Tennis League for the first time. Thursday: Fabian Schmahl earned 20 points by winning his court with Andy Taylor, Scott Vaaler and Lee Workum. Workum earned 16 points for winning his earlier court and Bob Kooris and Glynn Goertzen shared first and second place points (14 each) by tying for first on theirs.
