Week #3: Bakker Wins 7, Takes Lead in Standings

Rob Bakker played two sessions and won all seven of his sets. The wins improved his season record to 10-0, moving him into the top spot in the standings. Richard Canelas made his Platform Tennis League debut and went 4-0. Other players who won courts without dropping a set were: Doug Jones, Scot Degerberg, Robert Glenn, John Fovel, Ron Visscher and Karen Crowley. Click week #3 for results from all 19 courts.

Bakker Selected for Xavier U. Athletic Hall of Fame
Most of us know Rob as a top platform tennis player. Bakker is the Director of Racquet Sports at The Camargo Club and is currently ranked #5 nationally with partner Flip Goodspeed. But before paddle tennis, Rob was a two-sport standout at Xavier University. He played both soccer and tennis and was good enough to be selected All-Conference in both sports. For this and other accomplishments, the university has selected him for the Xavier University Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction will be on Friday, December 18. ​Team #2 (Palmenter) Takes Lead
Team #2 (Palmenter) defeated Team #6 (Gilligan) 18 to 17 to improve to 3-0 for the season. The win puts them slightly ahead of second place Team #7 (Shiels). Both teams are 3-0, but Team #2 is ahead on total points 52 to 48. Click for full week #3 team results.
