Who's Playing Pickleball (Update)

Our first Spring/Summer pickleball league is through week 18 of 24. There have been three rainouts and 15 completed weeks. 263 different players have participated with 1,885 official games completed. We've averaged using about 26 courts at Glendale Lyceum, Cincinnati Country Club and LTC at Lunken each week. Below are some breakdowns:

Players By Session

• Spring (Apr 11 - Jun 6): 157 players
• Summer #1 (Jun 13 - Aug 8): 138 players
• Summer #2 (Aug 8 - Oct 10): 163 players

Players By Gender

• Female: 149 players (56.7%)
• Male: 114 players (43.3%)

Players By Playing Level

Our league uses a proprietary algorithm that factors in results to create optimal "pairings" numbers based on a 4,000 point scale. Our more general "SOS" or Strength of Schedule number could be considered a playing level - that uses ratings 1 to 10. A loose conversion to the broadly used self-rating system would be 1 & 2 = below 3.0, 3 & 4 = 3.0, 5 & 6 = 3.5, 7 & 8 = 4.0, 9 = 4.5, 10 = 5.0. Here is a breakdown by playing level:

• Self-Rating Below 3.0: 72 players
  • SOS Rating 1 = 31 players
  • SOS Rating 2 = 41 players
• Self-Rating 3.0: 68 players
  • SOS Rating 3 = 26 players
  • SOS Rating 4 = 42 players
• Self-Rating 3.5: 76 players
  • SOS Rating 5 = 48 players
  • SOS Rating 6 = 28 players
• Self-Rating 4.0: 36 players
  • SOS Rating 7: 27 players
  • SOS Rating 8: 9 players
• Self-Rating 4.5+: 11 players
  • SOS Rating 9: 11 players
  • SOS Rating 10: *0 players

*No players were rated 10 for the first year by design. Players achieving 2,500+ "standings" points will be rated 10 at start of future leagues.
